Into my own cupped hands

February 10, 2026

Do not try to save the whole world or do anything grandiose. Instead, create a clearing in the dense forest of your life and wait there patiently, until the song that is your life falls into your own cupped hands and you recognize and greet it. Only then will you know how to give yourself to this world so worthy of rescue. ~ Martha Postelthwaite

Back in November, I shared that I had signed a lease on a space in the Franklin Arts Center. When I’ve allowed myself to daydream over the years, this is the kind of space I always imagined: a communal place filled with color and shared energy. Comforting in its creative clutter. Warm. Nurturing.

A place that reminds people of the quiet magic art offers the soul. A place where you might feel a little more like yourself—and a little more like you belong. Part of something moving together.

Like a school of fish, perhaps.

Allowing myself that dream has not always been easy—or practical. But now, here we are. Lil Fish Studios has opened its doors.

There’s a small shop area filled with my hand-dyed wool and artwork, and space that will one day host a curated selection of work by other artists. A large workshop area where many mediums and projects can be explored. And a small, cozy spot in the corner, just right for intimate chats.

This is just the beginning. I’ll be hosting open studio nights as a way to gently open the doors and see what this space wants to become. The first is this Thursday—an open invitation to come by, hang out, bring a project you’re working on, or simply play with materials I’ll have on hand. No pressure, no expectations.

My hope is to let these gatherings grow and evolve as need (and curiosity) dictates.

I’d be thrilled if you’d stop by.

Franklin Arts Center - 1001 Kingwood St, Suite 101, Brainerd MN. Park on Kingwood St or park in the parking lot and enter through the South Door. You’ll find us just inside the door, to the right. This Thursday, Feb 12th, 6:00-8:00pm. More dates coming soon!

I have a few workshops coming up that are going to be fun, fun, fun. There will be needle-felted sunsets and felted Easter Eggs at Campfire Bay Resort in Cushing, felted Northern Lights by the fireplace at Ruttger’s Bay Lake Resort, and collaged paper pollinators on wood boards at my studio.

Check out my shop page for full details.

In March, I will be partnering with Treeline Acres on some earthy Easter projects. More info to come!

I recently had the opportunity to sit down and chat (virtually) with the lovely Joleen from Joleen’s Happy Time Craftcast. You can see our interview on Youtube, and though I cringe to myself on the screen, I had a really nice time and am grateful for the chance to get to know her a bit. Please check it out and give her a follow. She does a great job of showcasing artists from all over, and she has a beautiful art retreat center in southern Minnesota called Big Raven Farm where she encourages lots of creative play.
