Part of my ongoing exploration of pollinators and the habitats they depend on and affect. This petite piece features red columbine and a bumblebee full of pollen against a serene woodland scene.
The process : I print each sheet of paper using acrylic paint and a gelli plate and use them to create paper illustrations. The unique papers give these pieces a painterly effect. The overlapping pieces add texture and interest. Each piece is sealed with a matte sealer.
The sides are painted black. It is varnished with a matte varnish with a slight but intentional texture. This piece could be framed or can be hung as-is.
