Part of my ongoing exploration of pollinators and the habitats they depend on and affect. This unique piece features a busy bumblee with full pollen pouches landing on a bright pink flower. The background is a lovely turquoise.
The process : I print each sheet of paper using acrylic paint and a gelli plate and use them to create paper illustrations. The unique papers give these pieces a painterly effect. The overlapping pieces add texture and interest. Each piece is sealed with a matte sealer.
The sides are painted deep gold. This piece could be framed or can be hung as-is.
