SOLD Love frog original paper illustration

This piece has found its happy home. If you would like something similar (because of the process, none will be exactly the same) please contact me.

Original collage on 4x6 wood panel.

What if each ribbit we hear is a profession of love? Millions of princes calling out from lily pads. This sweet little guy is loving life, floating along beneath the cattails. An optimistic, happy piece for the frog lover or hopeful romantic.

The process : I sit in front of a gelli plate with an array of acrylic paints in front of me and mix, dab, and roll colors across the plate. I lay a piece of paper down on it and when I peel it up, the paint has adhered itself to the paper. As layers of paint builds up, the pieces become more and more interesting. When they’re dry, and inspiration strikes, I simply sit with scissors and glue and cut my vision from the paper. I like to think of what I do as paper illustration, and my style is quirky and folksy, and always inspired by nature. Those cool papers end up giving the collages/illustrations a painterly feel and ensures that no piece can ever be duplicated exactly.

The sides are painted a deep turquoise blue. It is varnished with a matte varnish with a slight and intentional texture. This piece could be framed or can be hung as-is.

Shipping to the United States only. Sorry, I can’t ship internationally at this time.
